Ok, after that desperate plee for help, I managed to make one myself anyway. (typical eh?).
The problem was trying to get the commands working when amos was in front, which just didn't work. I solved this by using the intuition ext. to use a pubscreen. As James Bond already supports pubscreen, using the current GUI ext commands would work, but there'd be not custom screen mode option while having a net game.
PS. Pietro, how about not forcing amos to back when calling Gui Event, and please fix the TCP OPEN when amos is in front bug?
On the subject of net James Bond, I have almost finished the comms routine, I've got it to save all the outgoing packets (thats from the host to the remote copies). I've found that it uses around 100-200 bytes per frame. Say the game was running at 15fps, that'd make the total outgoing bandwith around 18kbits, which is quite a lot, but a fast connection between to 56kbit modems /should /be ok. (not taking into consideration net lag etc.)
Using IRC for this game data would be impossible, because that is about 2-3k of binary data every seccond, and IRC just isn't designed for this kind of application.
PPS. Thanks for the idea Rev. Giark, but I already tried TCP open on someone else, it just fails. It seems that the program has to open that port for someone to connect to, and so far (hu-hum Pietro) there seems to be no command that does this....
PPPS. Can someone send me a program that downloads a text file from a webpage please, I can't work out how to :(
See ya.
